About the event

Presented by Media Mentors Australia’s Esther Coleman Hawkins.

Got a brilliant project idea? Fantastic! But here’s the catch: no matter how groundbreaking your concept is, if you can’t pitch it effectively, it might never see the light of day. In this engaging workshop, Esther Coleman Hawkins—Co-Founder of Media Mentors and CEO of Screen Careers—will guide you through the essentials of crafting a pitch that not only grabs attention but also gets your project moving forward.

This session is perfect for writers, producers, directors, and anyone looking to rally other creatives behind their vision. By the end of the workshop, you’ll know exactly what information you need to have at your fingertips before you even begin pitching. You’ll also learn about the different types of pitches and how to choose the right one to achieve your goals.

Esther, a seasoned producer and development expert with a wealth of experience (and a few battle scars from unsuccessful pitches!), will share insider tips and strategies to help you communicate your idea in a way that excites and convinces. Don’t miss this opportunity to turn your project dreams into reality by mastering the art of the pitch!

Esther Coleman Hawkins' Bio:

I’m a smart, creative and innovative producer with a wealth of worldwide programming experience. From the award-winning Revolution School for ABC1 to the Logie-nominated Last Chance Saloon, my goal is to bring intimate stories to life with insight and humour.

I’m also a long-standing, and enthusiastic, veteran of development. I thrive with the challenge of turning an exciting idea into a successful TV series. Some of my favourite success stories are Luke Warm Sex, Secrets of Our Suburbs and House of Food Obsessives.

Alongside two decades of program making, I love coaching and mentoring people both inside and beyond the media industry.  I’ve helped people kick start their projects and revamp, restart or change careers.  I’m driven by the fact that I love working and I think, given how much of our lives most us of spend at work, that we need to do something that meets our needs.
