About the event

Award-winning screenwriter and script editor Gemma Crofts (Surviving Summer) leads a 5-week workshop for film and TV screenwriters to hone your craft by getting expert notes on your scripts. Through a series of supportive, constructive feedback sessions Gemma will evaluate what is working and what isn’t and how you can improve your script.

Open to writers of feature films or TV dramas. Acceptance is on a first come first served basis but you must submit a completed draft of your script before the start of the course. You must sign a confidentiality agreement before starting the course.

In each weekly 2-hour session, Gemma will focus on two scripts, giving each writer a dedicated hour of attention and pre-prepared feedback. Designed to be an intimate and nurturing space for 10 writers to share their work and build community, there will be plenty of opportunity for questions and to connect with Gemma and fellow attendees.

Gemma Crofts has over eight years experience as a development executive and three as a freelance script editor. She has assessed and developed scripts for Mushroom Pictures, Dynamic Television (Los Angeles), Working Title Films (Sydney) and Werner Film Productions. She has worked with writers such as Liz Doran, Matt Cameron, Giula Sandler, Megan Simpson-Huberman, Steve McGregor, Vicki Madden, Stuart Page, Michael Lucas, Melina Marchetta and Daina Reid, and worked on productions such as The Newsreader, The Gloaming, Molly and Boys in the Trees. She attended the feature script development course at Binger Film Lab in Amsterdam and is a proponent of the Solace 23 school of script development. Gemma is also a working screenwriter with an interest in genre and YA projects. She has won and been nominated for both Australian and international awards, and has projects in development with companies in the US, UK and Australia. More about Gemma here.
