About the event

Jodi Matterson is the producer of some of Australia’s biggest streaming series and movies of the past five years, including The Dry, Nine Perfect Strangers and The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Matterson, with her partners at Made Up Stories. She’s overseen projects with a collective budget running into the hundreds of millions. In April 2024 she embarked on a new venture, setting up prodco SIlent Firework - the next exciting chapter in a highly successful screen career.

From the outset, Jodi’s career path has been influenced by a number of role models who became her mentors and, effectively, empowered her towards success. From her longstanding partnership with producer Bruna Papandrea to the other key female figures who have influenced her both professionally and personally, Jodi will speak about the power of mentors and how the insights and opportunities they provide can, quite literally, change your life.

With plenty of takeout information about the many benefits of mentors, where and how to find them, and how the mentor-mentee relationship works best, this In Conversation will cover subject areas including how having a mentor can:

  • Unlock your potential
  • Help you acquire vital skills, and
  • Help you navigate your career path with greater confidence and the resilience needed to weather the fluctuations of a creative career

Jodi Matterson’s Bio:

Jodi Matterson recently established the new production banner Silent Firework, which incorporates joint venture companies with Abe Forsythe, Glendyn Ivin and Libbie Doherty.

Jodi recently produced THE LOST FLOWERS OF ALICE HART starring Sigourney Weaver for Amazon, STRIFE starring Asher Keddie for Binge, two seasons of the genre-bending romantic comedy WOLF LIKE ME for Peacock  starring Isla Fisher and Josh Gad, NINE PERFECT STRANGERS, starring Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy for Hulu and Roar starring Nicole Kidman and Judy Davis.

In film Jodi’s credits include THE DRY starring Eric Bana which has broken records at the Australian box office, as well as the film adaptation of the international best- seller, PENGUIN BLOOM, starring Naomi Watts, LITTLE MONSTERS starring Lupita Nyong’o, NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN starring Sarah Snook, DOWN UNDER and THUNDERSTRUCK starring Sam Worthington.

Most recent film credit is FORCE OF NATURE, the sequel to the feature film THE DRY with Eric Bana reprising his role as Aaron Falk has just been released.
