About the event
Presented by actor Luke McKenzie (High Country, Underbelly, Wentworth).
Creating a sustainable onscreen career isn’t just about learning “the craft”, it’s equally about having the right tools and relevant knowledge to build a long-lasting - and enjoyable! - career.
In this workshop we’ll cover the basics of building an onscreen career including:
1.UNDERSTANDING YOUR UNIQUE VALUE: Helping performers realise they belong in this industry; what distinctively makes you "you”.
2. STARTING A CAREER IN AUSTRALIA: Practical tools - how our industry works, what is needed to get started, where are the jobs, and who helps you get them. Plus an insider's view of what the road ahead may look like.
3. CREATING YOUR OWN WORK: How to (and why you should) start generating your own opportunities on screen, on stage, or online.
4. MARKETING YOURSELF: Strategies to promoting yourself in a competitive industry.
Luke says: “I have found whenever teaching craft-focused workshops, students are endlessly hungry for practical advice on this industry and how to navigate it. While no two career paths are alike, I look forward to sharing lessons from my own journey; not only what has worked in my career, but, perhaps more importantly, the invaluable lessons learned from what hasn’t. I am excited to empower emerging actors with these insights and tools so they can navigate their own unique paths in our industry with more clarity.”
